Merry Monday Challenge - Vintage Snowflake

No, I have not fallen off the face of the planet, just busy with projects for Paper Architecture With
Sabrina, and..... starting up my new Stamin' Up business. This means that I will now have three blogs to share some creativity with you all!

It has been a while since I've participated in a challenge and made cards, and I'm very much in the mood to make a card. So I decided to make a Christmas card choosing Merry Monday #132 Vintage Snowflake card challenge!

As you can see I chose to make a tall and skinny card that fits into a size 10 envelope (except maybe for that bow, lol!) I wanted to have the bow more to the left, at the top of the ribbon running down the side, but I knew that the bow would do a couple of things if I did that: 1) it would not keep the card balanced when standing upright because of the height, 2) it make it difficult to get into an envelope because the bow would be hanging over the left side much to much to get it in. I also knew that this would throw the design balance off, but tried to balance the visual balance. Not too sure I succeeded, but it is what it is.

To the left you see the inspirational photo for the challenge. Aren't those snowflake cookies beautiful and yummy looking?

To get the bow onto the card, I punched two 1/2" circles and pulled the ribbon through to tie the bow. This saves trying to find a way to adhere the bow and not worrying about it not holding on. I love the double layers of edge punching of the cream cardstock. The snowflake stamps are older, no longer in their packaging, and I can't remember where they are from. I used Stampendous Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel (which has gold flecks in it) on velum and then fussy cut the snowflakes out and layered them. The embossing folder is Cuttlebug's Holly Ribbons.

Here are a few more photos views to show some of the details and layering.

Hope you enjoyed my card and that it will inspire your own Christmas card. You should hop on over to the challenge and view the incredible entries at Merry Monday #132!

Thank you for stopping by today! It was so nice to post something for you today!

Happy Papercrafting!
